Independence Seaport Museum for Coast Day
DelVaLUG will be assisting fellow member, Teach Fleet, in this year's Coast Day. Please stop by and enjoy this unique display of LEGO ships.
Join the Independence Seaport Museum for Coast Day, an event held on Penn's Landing by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation in partnership with the Delaware Estuary on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

I could use a few more people to help Wilbert set up his ships. Set up time is Friday from about 5-8pm.

Re: Independence Seaport Museum for Coast Day
Context, lessee ... the appearance by TEACH FLEET is an indoor activity at the Independence Seaport Museum, part of the Coast Day activities (Saturday), which are part of the WHYY Connections Festival (Saturday and Sunday).

Links:
- Wilbert McKinley, former ship designer, self-declared "commodore" of Gospel Lightship Int'l Inc. (note the seven cuff-stripes and the insignia on his cap, neither of which are USN)
- The TEACH FLEET
- Independence Seaport Museum
- Coast Day (at museum), Saturday 10:00-5:00
- Coast Day (at Penn's Landing), Saturday noon-5:00
- 3rd annual WHYY Connections Festival, Saturday noon-10:00, Sunday noon-6:00
- Is there a commodore rank in the current USN? Sort of.
- Rank insignia of USN commissioned and warrant officers - the cuff of an O-7 RDML ("commodore") has one broad stripe and one star.
Event timeline and instructions
For completeness I'm copying this from the email that Mac redistributed on 8/25.

Rail and taxi details.
If taking *SEPTA regional rail*, at least three of us (Mac, Phil, Alan) would be riding the Paoli/Thorndale (f.k.a. R5) line. The *weekday inbound schedule* shows arrivals at Market East at 4:26, 4:55, and 5:26 pm. The *Saturday schedule* is 7:21, 7:55, 8:21, 8:55, and 9:21 am. As of July 1 there were *new zones and fares*. Friday would be the weekday fare (evening starts at 7:00 pm), to/from Zone 4 (the new outermost zone) is $6.50. The evening/weekend fare is $5.00.
As estimated by *Taxi Fare Finder*, the fare between Market East and Penn's Landing would be $7 to $10, plus tip. Each additional passenger incurs a $1 surcharge, as corroborated by *Philly-Taxi*. (Taxi regulator *Philadelphia Parking Authority* doesn't seem to carry pricing info.)
